WEEK 11 - CREDIT ISN'T ALWAYS DUE.

New Year's Eve.

Tomorrow is the day - new year, new me malarkey.  I've been a sucker to it before myself, gym memberships, exercise equipment, kitchen appliances.  Hypnotised by a calendar change and consumerism seduction.  And this year, well!  This year takes it even further by starting the year and month on the first day of the week!  Monday 1st January 2018.  Does it get any better than that?! I'm more than a little OCD so trust me when I say that that is an OCD sufferers dream come true!

The fact is, yes, it's a new year but it's also the same me.  I'm no different today than yesterday.  I don't want a new me for the new year, I want the old me, still trying, learning and growing but just with an upgraded, more determined mind-set. Mind-set deluxe edition 2.0 platinum!

So as tempting as it was to become overwhelmed by sales and offers, promises and guarantees and the very best that Photoshop has to offer.  The truth is, I don't need any of that.  Not right now at such early stages in my journey.  There are plenty of free home workout videos on YouTube that require little or no equipment, plenty of recipes and ideas online without the need for a £200 kitchen appliance, and plenty of available free resources to get my year off to a good, progressive start.

Will I take advantage of these offers sometime?  Sure.  There will come a time when I need a gym and appropriate tools but for now, I've got everything I need to make an excellent start!
So, how did I spend new year’s eve?  I spent it preparing for new years day, registering on online challenges regarding steps walked and distance travelled.  That should encourage me to meet my daily step target and more so that at the end of the month/ challenge/ year, I'll be getting medals, certificates and acknowledgment of the effort I've put in and the things I've achieved.  One of them, country walking: walk 1000 miles 2018 has a great, supportive Facebook group, so if you fancy a challenge, check it out! https://www.walk1000miles.co.uk

I also decided last week to push myself beyond exercise and out of my comfort zone by committing to do a Fire walk in February to raise money for charity.  I don't believe that you can improve any aspect of your life, if you're not trying to improve your life overall.  So, considering I have a phobia of fire and anything hot in general lol, I'm going to do my best to achieve walking over flaming coals to prove to myself that I can do anything I put my mind to.  Anyone interested in the event or sponsoring me can get more information here.  https://www.justgiving.com/Michelle-Pettifer

So, an exciting start to the year for me!  I'm feeling really good, really positive, really motivated and also really determined.  I've got a great support network.  Challenges to push myself and look forward to.  I've got Leslie Sansone on YouTube helping me reach my step goals and I'm still looking for a challenge for later in the year to keep me focused.  If you have any ideas, comment it below please.

So, last weigh day of 2017, knowing all the crap I ate over Christmas week and the week before but knowing that I was just going to accept it and keep moving forward.  So imagine my shock when the scales read -1lb! I had to scrape my jaw off the floor! Now I know, I'm probably going to have some bounce back from this next week but for now I'm taking it and running with it!

Thank you all for joining me again in this new year! Any thoughts on any of the above then please let me know, any advice and support is always appreciated and any ideas for challenges welcomed.

I've got my mission statement for the year, I've set myself a weight loss goal of 5st and I've got my head right where it needs to be!

Happy New Year everyone! Let's make it the best one yet! Make it count!
