WEEK 13 - DIET, WHAT DIET??

Hi everyone!  Thanks for returning to read my rollercoaster diet journey.  Normally I start by going through all the trials and triumphs of the week and leaving the weigh-in result until the end, but this week I'm just going to get straight in there and announce proudly my 3lb loss taking me to 1 st 13 lbs overall!
 πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜

I was actually 8oz off 2 stone so I was a little bit gutted lol but I'm really pleased with how it's all going at the moment 😊 I haven't had any gains now for a month and I feel much more organised and controlled in what I'm doing and happy at the steady loss!

Both my lunch flask and actifry have arrived this week and I have a freezer full of goodness for a food prep day so I've got no excuses but to eat fresh, mostly healthy, measured portions for this week.  I say β€˜mostly healthy' because despite the title, I genuinely don't see this as a diet.

My primary goal isn't losing weight.  Losing weight is a consequence of the lifestyle changes I've made and it's an important one but at the same time, I'm still eating the foods I like and enjoy (mostly).  If I want chips, I'll eat them – only I'll make oven chips and now, I'll use the actifry, if I want sauce, I'll have it, though now I just have less and always choose a low fat/ salt/ sugar/ calorie option.

I'm not intending to punish myself by removing everything that I like to eat, that would be detrimental, I'm only trying to be more mindful of what I'm CHOOSING to fuel my body with because it is going to be my body for the rest of my life and I want it working at it's best possible level.  I wouldn't try to fuel a car with sunflower oil so why should I choose to fuel my body with McDonald's?

So let me encourage you right now that all it takes is simple, minor changes, one at a time, to really make a difference e.g. if you always eat a large big Mac meal with coke then go have it! But change the coke to a diet coke and in a week or two, stop making it large.  You're still eating the food you want but you're also still making positive choices and changes to benefit your body!

Unfortunately, one of the changes I wanted to make last week that just failed miserably lol is stopping smoking.  It didn't even last the day 😣 that is something I'm going to need significantly more willpower for but I've been advised to try Allen Carr's book so at least I have a plan moving forward.

I'm also really struggling to get a hold on the exercise part of this journey.  I have enough equipment at home to be able to do some really good workouts ( and if we're being honest, we don't even need equipment, you can use your own body weight as resistance for strength training and improv with anything else) but I'm so scared of damaging my body because I don't know what I'm doing and I'm just not ready to join a gym or class that I'm just doing nothing.  😣 I've contacted some personal trainers for help but without a face-to-face assessment then they're reluctant to offer me advice due to my health problems but nearing the 2 stone mark, I really need to make this a priority for toning my body.

So guys, that was my week.  Cooked a lot, ate nice food, lost weight lol.  That's a win-win for me.

Looking forward to hitting more goals and making more changes as the weeks go forward but I couldn't do it without all your help, support and advice! So thank you to you all for sharing this journey with me, I appreciate it as always, and as always, I'd really love to hear your advice, comments and ideas.

We've got this!
