WEEK 16 - ANYTHING IS BETTER THAN NOTHING.
I know everyone has those moments when you just want to give up. When you trick yourself into believing that it isn't actually that important, that it doesn't really matter and that you're far too busy or stressed or overwhelmed to actually be able to make it work.
That's how I've been feeling this week, family problems, illnesses, financial struggles as well as working full time, trying to make progress on several projects I'm doing and finding time for me have all started to weigh on me and with the addition of beginning my online PT this week, I've been feeling like the proverbial broken camel.
Luckily, I have enough positive people and influence in my life that I can take time to regroup and reassess these thoughts and feelings and then I remember that this isn't supposed to be a chore, this is supposed to be me, creating a better lifestyle, to create a better life for me and all it takes is to create new thought processes and new habits and then these things will become a natural part of my life without too much effort or energy needed. I just need to be patient!
My firewalk is coming up next Sunday, gulp! I'm completely shitting myself thinking about it lol and I know that it'll probably affect my walking and exercise for a few days after so I need to prepare for that, but on the plus side, I'm hoping it'll melt away a few pounds with the heat and just pray I don't fall over lol. But I'm excited, my first challenge of the year is almost done, the weight is slowly shifting and I'm excited what the rest of the year will bring!!!
So I knew I wasn't going to have a great week this week! In fact, I'd fully prepared for a couple of pounds gain so I was more than happy with my 1lb loss!
Weight loss is an odd thing, and although I know that the basic formula to losing weight is to create a calorie deficit and the bigger the deficit, the greater the loss, but it isn't an exact science. You can work really hard and hit all your targets and still gain at the end of the week or like me you can have a bad week and lose.
It seems there are many influences to the fluctuation of weight; internal, external, health, weight, shape, size, height, day, time etc. and it's like we put too much pressure on ourselves to get good results when really, any result is fine! I know it's disappointing if you have a miniscule loss after an extremely well organised week, but a loss is a loss and I tend to find that I alternate between a good week and bad week all the time.
It's important not to feel defeated and give up but you always try to motivate yourself to continue on your journey. You started for a reason, don't let a number dictate to you!
My NSV for this week was discovering how many inches I'd lost in total. At the start of this journey, I measured myself weekly, but they fluctuated so much that I figured I was doing something wrong and gave up. My PT has asked for my measurements so that we can more accurately track my progress, so after taking the basic chest, waist, hips measurements today, I was very happy to discover an 11.5" loss overall. Go me!!!
It's the little things like this that really prove to me that I can do it, because I already am! No matter how slowly, progress is progress and I'm happy with that!
So as always, thanks for keeping tabs on me, keeping me motivated and on track and always having something positive to say for me. You guys really spur me on and lift me up and I appreciate your help, support and advice so please don't stop!
P.S. I finally received my stop smoking book, will start it today... wish me luck!!!
